At Home – Sedbergh, Cumbria

The nice thing about what I do is that it’s not restricted to the local area I live in, and I can work with clients all over the place! However, a common bugbear I’ve found that business owners have with developers is that they often move around, and become unreachable after a while.

I’ve always been based in the South Lakes/North Lancashire area, but in recent years I came to the small market town of Sedbergh to settle – at just 10 minutes from Junction 37 of the M6, it means I can combine a nice quiet country-coding life whilst still being within easy reach of clients in Kendal, Lancaster, Preston, Carlisle and beyond!

A Bit About Sedbergh

According to Wikipedia: “Sedbergh is a small town and civil parish in Cumbria, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies about 10 miles (16 km) east of Kendal and about 10 miles (16 km) north of Kirkby Lonsdale. The town sits just within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Sedbergh is at the foot of the Howgill Fells on the north bank of the River Rawthey which joins the River Lune about 2 miles (2 km) below the town.”

Its also a Book Town – so if you’re planning a literary visit, you can find out more about the local bookshops and the like here.

There are seasonal Artisan Markets run every year that start around the end of April until September time.

Sedbergh Food Festival is running this year from the 8th – 18th June 2017 – now in its second year, this festival celebrates not only food and drink, but also the culture, people and businesses of Sedbergh and the surrounding area.

Sedbergh Cycling Festival promotes cycling of all kinds in the beautiful Howgills & this amazing corner of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. It’s on 1st & 2nd July 2017, which promises to be a great weekend of cycling events and entertainment for the whole family.
